Residential Care Homes
The Troed-y-Rhiw Residential Care Homes provide personal care for the elderly in residence of their respite care homes. The Troed-y-Rhiw Residential Care Homes are based in South Wales.
Residential care homes offer the kind of care that you would get from a relative or friend who looked after you. It provides personal care such as washing, dressing, bathing and assistance with toilet needs. It does not offer nursing care. This is provided by the District Nursing Service on the same basis as for people in their own homes.
A Nursing Home must have a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day, and generally residents will be mentally or physically more frail or immobile. Their health care needs will require continuous assessment and monitoring by registered nurses.
Residential Care Homes are for people needing assistance with daily living tasks: washing, dressing, bathing, mobility etc. They provide personal care in the same way as a caring relative would at home and are inspected by Social Services.The Doctor and District Nurse would continue to provide health care for residents in the same way as if they were in their own home.
Specialist Care Homes care for people whose requirements cover a whole spectrum of physical/mental disabilities and impairments.Such as, learning disabilities, sight impairment, eating disorders and severe physical handicap. These homes provide either Nursing or Residential type of care. They are often equipped with special facilities for people with particular needs.
Nursing Care Homes look after the much more heavily dependent person who may be immobile or even unable to eat without help. They often provide convalescent care after hospital treatment. As their name implies, Nursing Homes are staffed by a mix of qualified nurses and nursing auxiliaries. They are registered and regularly inspected by the Area Health Authority.
